I joined the financial advisory industry with Honeybees Organisation in December 2022, after a fulfilling four-year tenure as an Airforce Engineer with the Republic of Singapore Airforce. My journey towards becoming a Financial Consultant was sparked by a personal incident – my father’s hospitalisation, which led to a significant medical bill despite his belief in having adequate insurance coverage.

This situation was compounded by the discovery that both my father’s and my own financial advisors had left the industry without notifying us. This experience made me realise the potential for many families to face similar challenges, igniting my desire to become a responsible advisor who supports families through both good and bad times.

The most rewarding moments in my career thus far include being able to rectify the insurance shortfalls within my own family’s portfolio and extending my expertise to my loved ones and close friends. Additionally, assisting a close friend with his hospitalisation and leveraging Honeybee’s in-house medical concierge service to expedite his operation stands out as a memorable experience. This not only solidified my role as a trusted Financial Consultant but also allowed me to pass on valuable knowledge to my team and peers. My first overseas incentive trip with AIA to Bangkok for the 2024 Kick Off was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to learn from other qualifiers, forge stronger relationships with my team, and create fond memories.

What keeps me motivated is the opportunity to share stories and experiences, helping individuals review their financial portfolios, achieve personal goals, and make informed financial planning decisions. My career as a Financial Consultant has greatly benefited not only my financial planning but also provided my friends and clients with insights on market trends and investment opportunities, enabling them to lead fearless lives. Achievements such as the Million Dollar Round Table, Senior Personal Wealth Manager, and Top Rookie awards in my first year underscore the trust my clients place in me, reassuring me that I’m on the right path.

The most important trait for a Financial Consultant, in my opinion, is the heart to serve, prioritising service over sales and focusing on adding value to those around us. For those considering this profession, I advise always acting with the client’s interest at heart, aiming to help them pilot their dreams, preserve their wealth, and protect their lives. My personal lack of inherited insurance policies has taught me the importance of responsible financial planning and safeguarding loved ones from potential financial hardships.
