I was invited by a friend to a career talk organised by an insurance company and walked out feeling impressed by one of the speakers on how he changed his life by 180 degrees after embarking on his journey as a financial consultant. I took a leap of faith and decided to pursue financial advisory as a career despite being unfamiliar with the exact job scope of a financial consultant. It has been more than 4 years since, and I have no regrets.

Do something you are passionate about. 

It wasn’t until I dove into the deep end did I discover that my passion is really in serving those who can benefit from proper financial management. To me, it is a wonderful and meaningful journey to be a financial consultant, and anybody who wishes to join the industry should also carry the same mission and purpose to serve others.

You are your promise to your clients.

With many friends and clients entrusting me with their financial planning, it’s no surprise that heavy responsibilities lie on your shoulders. Always remember the promise that you have made to them or yourself. The promise that I’ve made to myself is to help those who are not well-versed in financial management so that more people around me can achieve their life goals.

You will never regret this journey in financial consulting.

The pinnacle of my career thus far was when I received a personal thank you note from a client when their medical bills were reimbursed, which would have otherwise jeopardised his hard-earned savings. Moments like these remind me of my passion to serve, and that there is never a day when I regret being a financial consultant.
