My journey into financial advisory since January 2022 was influenced by my background as an experience designer and business consultant at a design firm, where despite my success, I felt a lack of personal and professional growth.

My transition to financial consulting was catalysed by conversations with a close friend and current financial consultant, who highlighted the potential for significant personal achievement and the ability to make a meaningful impact on others’ lives. The opportunity to support my aging parents financially and secure a stable future for my family was a major factor in my decision. This career not only aligned with my aspirations of financial independence and entrepreneurship but also provided a platform to utilise my skills in a meaningful, impactful way.

The most rewarding moment of my career was achieving my first Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). This accomplishment was not merely a professional milestone but also a personal affirmation of my dedication and the effective impact of my efforts on my clients’ lives. It validated my capabilities and bolstered my resolve to continue striving for excellence in this field.

Helping clients navigate their financial journeys, particularly through challenging times, and seeing them achieve their financial goals is immensely fulfilling and motivates me as a financial consultant. Moreover, the potential to support my parents through their retirement years provides a strong personal drive.

Authenticity is crucial in this profession, and building genuine, trust-based relationships with clients is foundational. To succeed as a financial consultant, clients need to feel that their financial consultant genuinely cares about their well-being and is committed to helping them achieve their financial goals.

My advice to new financial consultants is to embrace the profession with dedication and a passion for helping others. This field offers tremendous opportunities for those who are willing to put in the effort and are committed to continuous learning and personal growth. When recruiting new financial consultants, I look for individuals with a genuine passion for helping others and a strong desire for personal and professional growth. The biggest challenge is finding candidates who are not only motivated by financial rewards but are committed to the long-term journey and the challenges it entails.
