I was exposed to the financial services industry in 2014 as a year one undergraduate in SMU. Unfortunate events that triggered premature claims further solidified my beliefs that financial planning is a necessity for all individuals. I aspire to be a consultant who can provide objective opinions and advice and benefit as many people as I can reach out to. I strive to be the change in the otherwise often-misunderstood industry and to leave a positive impact on every person that I cross paths with.
Treasuring connections, always.
My relationships with friends and clients are important to me. These treasured connections with them keep me motivated, regardless of our ability to implement solutions for the betterment of their personal finances. Most of my clients are also young adults below the age of 30, so I can relate well to their needs and concerns. I see myself as someone who will walk the rest of my clients’ life journeys with them. I am working towards being an “encyclopaedia” to my clients for anything personal finances related, through my own experience or research. Because of my vast knowledge, my clients tend to view me as someone who is resourceful, someone whom they can look to for ‘lobangs’ or opportunities, and I am happy to be of such value to them.
The fine details matter.
I see my biggest strength as a financial consultant to be the level of detail that I put in for clients in planning while looking at their overall financial portfolio. From cash-flow budgeting, asset allocation, housing planning, to risk-transference and wealth management, the skills that I picked up as a finance and economics graduate increases how sensitive I am to my clients’ financial plans.
I believe that financial planning can also be more data and numbers-driven rather than just relying on emotions. Financial decisions, hence, should be made logically to support emotional needs. These skills and expertise allow me to be highly competent in the work that I do, which I believe is a competitive advantage I possess. Many highly-educated individuals, therefore, seek my expertise in the field of their financial matters.
Achieving success, together.
I see my repeated recognition through the International Dragon Award and Million Dollar Round Table relatively early after graduation as a huge achievement for myself. However, none of this would have been made possible without my clients. Without their continued trust, confidence and support in me, these awards stand for nothing. Their financial success is the greatest form of testimony for the work that I do.
