I joined AIAFA in 2020. I had always dreamt of becoming an investment banker after graduation as I was studying Economics at NUS with a specialisation in Monetary and Financial Economics. During the summer break of my Year 2 semester, I was introduced to the financial advisory industry by my friend who was interning with AAG. I joined a 6-weeks Apprenticeship Program to learn the ropes of this industry. I gained an understanding of how this career could positively impact someone’s life and how I could play a role in increasing the awareness of proper financial planning among the people I love, I then took a leap of faith and chose to be a financial adviser, and in 2020 I joined AIA FA.

As a financial consultant, my greatest goal is to protect as many families as I can before any unforeseen emergencies strike and to elevate their financial literacy knowledge so that they can make wiser financial decisions for themselves. Additionally, in the next 5 to 10 years, I would like to build and lead a team of like-minded individuals with a common mission to spread the message of the importance of life insurance and financial planning. Together, we can bring a positive change to society.

As a financial consultant, my greatest motivation is to witness how my clients can achieve different milestones in their lives through proper and calibrated financial planning. It is my greatest pleasure to be able to accompany them through different life stages and to be with them every step along the way knowing that they are well prepared financially to achieve all these goals. Additionally, with proper risk management coverage done up, I am assured that my clients will be able to seek proper medical care if there’s a need to, without having to worry about their medical bills. Knowing that I can provide this assurance to my clients, is a great motivation for me to protect even more families.

My advice to any new FC is to always have a good attitude to learn from seniors so that they can constantly improve their business model to better value-add to their clients. For those who are considering joining this profession, keep an open mind and never underestimate the impact that you can have on the lives of the people around you.

As someone who would like to lead a team of like-minded individuals, the key trait I am looking out for is people who have a good heart. Especially in a people’s business, our goal is to make the lives of the people around us better. To do so – we need to have empathy, and we have to listen to our clients from our heart.
