I was a fresh graduate exploring a career in financial advisory when I chanced upon the opportunity to become a financial consultant. I decided upon this career over being a relationship manager at a bank as I wanted a career that allowed me to make a positive impact on others directly.
Put clients’ interests over yours.
Being a financial consultant allowed me to truly represent my clients’ best interests, and knowing that they are all taken care of brings much joy to the work that I do.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution.
Financial products will always need to be professionally prescribed to each individual’s unique situation, and there cannot possibly be a one-size-fits-all that best matches the needs of everybody. This is why I think there will always be a demand for financial advisory, and we should always strive to upgrade ourselves to stay competitive.
Being genuine is the most important trait I think all financial consultants should have because it’s the only way we would be able to truly understand the needs of our clients. We also need to be genuine as we play many roles in our clients’ lives, from being a friend to being a close confidante. It is building that trust through our sincerity that can allow us to walk with them through their financial journey with peace of mind.
