I was looking for a job when I graduated, and a friend introduced me to the financial advisory industry. I was extremely against it at first, but once I understood the impact of what this business could do for the people around me, I decided to take the leap of faith and become a financial consultant.

This career is not about making money.
Initially, I was motivated to make money, but now I stay driven because I want to impact and change more lives as I keep moving forward in this industry. It’s short-sighted to think about monetary gains — if financial consultants wish to do this long-term, they need to seek a higher purpose of why they are doing this.

Look around and witness your own impact.
My most rewarding moment was when I witnessed the ripple effect upon stepping into the business. I realised that my friends and their friends, who joined my team, had changed their lives drastically for the better and grown immensely in a short period of time. Not only are they impacting their own lives, but they are also changing the lives of many others around them.

Insurance may not be your dream job.
I didn’t come in thinking this would be my dream job, but it has helped me achieve all my dreams. As long as you have a good attitude and carry a bigger purpose to this business, you can certainly achieve all your dreams as well.
