I graduated with a degree in Banking & Finance (Hons). I joined as a student advisor for 2 years while I was still studying, and after graduation, I made the decision to continue financial advisory as my career. Both my elder sisters are also in AI AFA, so I have been exposed to financial advisory and AAG since I was 19. Aside from certificates and qualifications such as REP, AEPP, and CFPC, and being a part of Yearly Conventions, I am also the proud recipient of the International Dragon Award (IDA) and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT).
My key motivational factors.
The ability to provide well for my parents, having financial independence and purpose in my career, as well as the desire to constantly upgrade and do even better so that I can give back to clients who trusted me with their portfolios – these are the key drivers that motivate me as a financial consultant.
Empathy as a strength.
I also play the role of a friend and a sister to my clients, aside from providing them with financial advice as their consultant. I strive to be someone they know they can be honest with about anything and never get judged by me. Professionalism is very crucial to me and at the same time, I’m always very sensitive toward others’ feelings and always put myself in their shoes. So I will always tell clients truthfully what’s needed in their portfolio while being sympathetic to the situation they are in. With these skills, I’ve always succeeded in getting my clients to share their problems and goals with me knowing I will not betray their trust. I believe my professionalism and empathy for their feelings and needs are my biggest strengths.
Giving clients a strong sense of security.
My biggest unique selling point is that my sisters, my brother-in-law and my boyfriend are all in the same company, the same agency doing financial advisory. I believe this is a testament to how serious we are about our roles and the strong beliefs we have in proper financial planning. My clients feel a sense of security knowing this as it shows that I’m here for good, and will be for a long time.
Focusing on the end goal.
Qualifying for the IDA and MDRT in consecutive years is my proudest achievement. The MDRT is now the minimum benchmark for me in this career. I managed this by being very focused on the end goal, understanding that obstacles are bound to come and always being prepared and not allowing the downtimes to hinder me from reaching my goal. I had a clear understanding of what needed to be done in order to reach MDRT and I set out to clear that goal. Whenever I feel down, I will reflect and think back on the reasons I chose to be in this career. In order to give back to my agency (AAG) and my division (Candy Ho div), the best way is to clear my goals. I want to make my parents and sisters proud of me too and also to be able to lead by example for the newer financial consultants that everything is possible if we set our mind to it.
