Having been in this industry for the past 10 months, it’s a journey I never saw myself undertaking. I was previously in the manpower and security industry, where the hours were long despite being enjoyable. The turning point was when I had to choose between taking care of my family and my career, and the choice was obvious and simple for me. I’ve never looked back since.

Build sustainable relationships.
Being a financial consultant requires you to be a people person, and being in the financial advisory industry enables me to build sustainable relationships whilst also spending quality time with friends and family alike. I look forward to spending quality time with these people every single day, and it’s what makes this job so enjoyable!

Coachability is key.
This is a job of constant unlearning and relearning, and as financial consultants, we need to always keep up with the times and be willing to upgrade our financial knowledge. This goes hand in hand with our value of competency, where we should always strive to provide the most relevant solutions for our clients.

You can do anything you set your mind to.
The most rewarding moment of my career was when I was able to successfully fight for adequate coverage for a client, who had been largely disregarded by other insurers due to her medical history with cancer. As someone thrust with the responsibility of safeguarding my clients, moments like these remind me of the need to persevere in spite of any obstacles that come my way, and always put my clients’ interests above all else!
