I joined the financial advisory industry 2 years ago. Educating others has always been a passion of mine, as I believe that leaving a legacy is not about what you achieve in your lifetime, but what you have passed down to the next generation.
After speaking with my family advisor, I decided that being a financial consultant was exactly what I needed to be — to touch the lives of as many families as possible to help them pass down their legacy to their future loved ones.
Find a career that you believe in.
I chose financial consulting as it was in line with my values and goals. I wish to help others create their own legacy, and achieving their life goals just as I plan to do.
A strong desire is what keeps you going.
Desire is the strongest trait that every financial consultant should have to succeed. I was able to finally reap the fruits of my labour when I clinched the International Dragon Award just 1 year into my career, and I reminded myself that this is not for myself, but my clients who have placed their trust in me.
Thanks to them, the award is testament of my competency, and I will continue to serve them for years to come.
Ask yourself “why”.
As attractive its rewards may be, this industry and career is not for everyone. To survive in the long term, financial consultants must ask themselves why they want to do this in the first place. Be sincere, self-driven and have that burning desire to succeed, and you’ll go far.
