In life, never say never. I was not an insurance believer, I once even vowed never to be an insurance agent. This belief did not waver even when I had to undergo a major spinal surgery in 2003 that set my parents back a good six-figure sum. My perception shifted while speaking to a mother who lost her son in an accident during my career as a journalist with the national broadsheet. As a journalist, I impact lives by giving perspectives through my articles. I saw it as an indirect influence on people. I always ask myself, “How else can I make a difference to more people? Is this possible while having a decent income?”

Through my career as a financial consultant, I finally found my answer and it has been eight years since I took the leap of faith and I have never looked back since.

As a financial consultant, I touch people’s lives through the portfolios created for my clients. In return, I have gained countless friendships and learned invaluable life experiences from the people I speak with. Because of my earlier misconception towards insurance, my parents spent their retirement funds to pay for my medical fees. I am determined not to let others go down the same path.

The beauty in all the adversity in life, is that it gives me strength and conviction to carry on impacting lives. I am proud to have managed to earn the International Dragon Award while recovering from a serious gastro-intestinal infection and being heavily pregnant.
