I think I have an affinity with the financial advisory industry, as I witnessed one of my family members brave Parkinson’s Disease for over 10 years. In a bid to master financial planning, I made the mid-career switch from sales and marketing to joining AIA FA. This year is my 4th year as a financial consultant, and I have never looked back.
Be motivated by your purpose.
I find it a great honour to serve my clients and be a part of their life journey. I enjoy curating personalised wealth portfolios to fund their dreams and protecting their standard of living by making sure they are sufficiently insured.
A chance for personal growth.
Being a financial consultant has added immense value to my personal growth. I have learned and grown so much because of my role. It not only requires a logical and analytical mind to seek the best solutions for clients, but also listening deeply with empathy, and thinking in their shoes. It has been an enriching experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything else!
Be willing to go that extra mile for others.
Financial consulting is a career for you if you are seeking something more in life, and are willing to go that extra mile for others. Not everyone gets to be accepted to become a financial consultant, but anyone who tries should get past the fear of any social stigmas and fear of rejection. Nothing amazing ever happens when you stay in your comfort zone, so set sail, explore, and you’ll be surprised with what you can find!
