I previously studied computer science at NUS and decided to join the financial advisory industry 3 years ago. I chose this career as I enjoyed bridging people from different walks of life to come and succeed together, and now as a leader, I derive my career satisfaction from seeing my associates happy and successful.

Treat everyone as human beings.
The most memorable experience in my career was when an upcoming associate director thanked me for all the work we’d achieved together and said that he’d always follow me wherever I went. It made me realise that oftentimes, in the business, we forget how human our financial consultants are. We must remind ourselves that above anything, empathy and love come first. With that, everyone can go on and achieve many more milestones without question, as a team.

Manoeuvring around a pandemic.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I made it a point to ensure all our consultants were fully equipped to conduct business even with the public health measures in place. We digitalised immediately and moved everything online to ensure that our touchpoints with our clients are still served. The absence of the human touch affects us more than we can imagine, and touching base often was key during the pandemic.

Turning lemons into lemonade.
Despite the obstacles faced over the last year, after moving everything online and digitalising our operations, we realised that we were able to resume our coaching on a much more frequent basis. We can now maximise our training and materials to help our consultants reach their fullest potential.
