I was trained as a chemical engineer in Nanyang Technological University and worked for several years as a project engineer in the defence sector, before finally taking the leap of faith to join the financial services industry, where I have been a financial consultant for 6 years now.

Married for 2 years with a new-born in September 2020, I am also a 3-time Million Dollar Round Table qualifying member and International Dragon Award (“IDA”) – Bronze Dragon Award winner 2019, 2020, 2021. In addition, I was also part of Singapore’s first 100 IDA team in history to achieve the 100 IDA Team Award 2019. I am being recognized by Financial Services Managers Association at Singapore Management Awards 2020 as one of the Bronze (Direct) awardees and also qualified as a member of the AIA Financial Advisers Prestige Platinum Club 2020.

The industry is extremely fast-moving and that is why financial consultants need to be diligent and put in the hard work. It also goes without saying that you should be humble throughout the entire process, because there is always so much to learn in this line of work and opportunities to better yourself are everywhere you go.

Always keep that competitive edge.

This pandemic has really taught me that financial consultants who are quick to adapt will experience business as usual. However, the slower ones would be the ones who only hope for the situation to revert to its old ways. Unfortunately, this reluctance and inability to adapt will only make them lose their competitive edge.
