Prior to being a financial consultant, I had little knowledge about financial planning until my mum experienced a critical illness. Entangled by the financial impact and taking on the sudden role of caregiver made me realise the importance of financial planning.

In my 6 year-long career so far, I have received the International Dragon Award (“IDA”) – Bronze Dragon Award, Million Dollar Round Table memberships for 2 consecutive years in 2019 and 2020 and was part of Singapore’s first 100 IDA team in history to achieve the 100 IDA Team Award 2019. I am also a member of the AIA Financial Advisers Prestige Platinum Club 2020.

Sincerity goes a long way.

You have to be earnest in this line of work, and in doing so you must uphold yourself with integrity, competence and compassion. I consider myself a people’s person, and it is definitely a required trait in order to really succeed in the financial advisory business.

Joining this industry and having this job as my career is one of the best life decisions I have ever made, and my biggest goal is that my clients will also feel that having me as their financial consultant is the best choice they have made.

Be both detailed and people-oriented.

Being trained in customer service and as a stock dealer in Phillip Securities for 3.5 years made me gain the right skills to be detail-oriented and number-sensitive as a dealer. Also because of my customer service experience, I am able to show empathy when coming up with and presenting solutions to my clients and understanding them from their perspective.
