I got to know about the financial advisory industry through my brother. Back then, I was considering what to do while I was serving national service in camp, and my brother introduced me to his best friend who ended up being my mentor. After listening to what he does, I felt like financial consulting was something suitable for me as I enjoyed talking to others.

As a financial consultant, I have the opportunity of catching up with all my friends, even those who I haven’t been in contact with for as long as 15 years. This job allows me to know how every one of them are doing, and ensure that their financial portfolios are well taken care of for the future ahead.

An irreplaceable job.

I believe that technology will never be able to replace the human touch. As a financial consultant, our job is to explain all the complicated information and jargon in very simple terms to our clients, and this is something difficult to do if you don’t know your clients well enough on a personal level. We also need to curate and relate financial information that is relevant to our clients in the first place.

Really understand how this industry works.

Even at present, there are people still sceptical about how the financial advisory industry works. I believe this will change in time, because once you really understand how everything comes together, you’ll realise the positive impact one can make to the people around him or her. As a financial consultant, I am a friend, and a competent person who can provide solutions to my clients’ daily lives.
