I have been in the financial consulting industry for 14 years now, as the youngest with 2 elder siblings and having formerly studied chemical engineering at the National University of Singapore.
I chose this career as I believe in the importance of helping families stay financially ready for crises, while also providing for my own family.
Having been awarded Top 3 Senior Director 2020, I credit the nurturing environment of Advisors Alliance Group, my supportive teammates and the great support from AIA Financial Advisers for my continued success.
Now that I am both a consultant and a director, my biggest goal that I wish to achieve in my financial consulting career is to groom my financial consultants to not only achieve well, but also become good leaders in their own right.
Stay globally aware.
Given the ever changing nature of the financial consulting industry, it’s important to constantly upgrade yourself in your consulting knowledge. Such is the case not just in terms of financial knowledge, but also in terms of global affairs. The world is getting more volatile than before in recent years, and we have no choice but to stay aware in order to stay prepared and adapt.
Genuinity is the secret to success.
Consultants should and must have the genuine desire to serve, and willingness to learn. We have to constantly motivate one another as consultants in order to maintain focus as a team. The industry is not easy to survive in, but what keeps the successful ones going is the right mindset to encourage one another to keep going.
Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind.
Work hard for what you want because it won’t come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous, and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticises you, keep on believing in yourself.
