I came from a humble, bonded family as the youngest child with 2 other siblings. Ever since I was 14, I have held part-time jobs to support my own education. Prior to becoming a financial consultant, I worked in the IT industry for 7 years.

In my decade-long career so far, I have been a 4-time Million Dollar Round Table member and 4-time International Dragon Award (“IDA”) winner. I was part of Singapore’s first 100 IDA team in history to achieve the 100 IDA Team Award 2019. I am a member of AIA Financial Advisers Pinnacle Club 2020 and a qualifier of AIA High Net Worth Prestige Club for 2 consecutive years (2019 and 2020). At the same time, I have been awarded the titles as Personal Wealth Manager and High Net Worth Senior Director in 2019 and Executive Personal Wealth Manager in 2020.

A strong mindset is important.

Financial consultants must always be mentally prepared for challenges ahead. A strong mindset is key to moving forward in your career in order to progress, because the road will never be a smooth one.

Thank your mentors.

I would not be as competent as a financial consultant as I am today had it not been for Vincent Koh, who is my mentor, my boss and my friend. I am grateful for the lessons I have learnt from my mentors throughout my career and I wish to be able to set a good example for the future generations of financial consultants as well.

Nothing beats the human touch.

The role of financial consultants has evolved to lean heavily towards technology. We need to learn to embrace and adapt to these changes in order to sustain our careers well, and only in doing so can we elevate our professionalism to the next level.

Regardless of the changes we need to face, nothing will beat the face-to-face interaction and human touch that we financial consultants have.
